PALAZZO THIENE – BONIN LONGARE

Corso Palladio angolo Piazza Castello

PALAZZO THIENE – BONIN LONGARE Palazzo Thiene Bonin Longare stands in Corso Palladio, on the corner of Piazza Castello. Andrea Palladio did not direct the construction of this building, as he died in 1580, before construction began. For this reason, Vicenzo Scamozzi followed the actual works. The palace has a façade overlooking Corso Palladio, with eight Corinthian semi-columns on the lower part, while the upper part features seven windows with capitals in addition to another eight semi-columns. Inside, there is a wonderful salon decorated with frescoes. The work was commissioned by Francesco Thiene, a member of one of the best-known families from the city of the same name north of Vicenza. The palace today houses the offices of the Vicenza Industrial Association.
